An Errors and Omissions policy covers legal liability and defense costs for the production company against lawsuits alleging unauthorized use of title, format, ideas, characters or plots, plagiarism, unfair competition or piracy. Errors and Omissions also protects for alleged libel, slander, defamation of character or invasion of privacy. This policy will usually be required by a distributor prior to the release of any feature film or television production.

Obtaining Errors and Omissions coverage can be complex and time consuming. E&O coverage is typically a three year policy and any claim against the policy must be made while the policy is in effect.
