The Truman Van Dyke Company is a leading broker in the field of entertainment insurance. We have insured thousands of feature films, television shows and documentaries since 1969. We are experts in providing insurance coverage for one time productions as well as annual coverage for the DICE producer (Documentaries, Industrial Films, Commercials and Educational films). We also specialize in Errors and Omissions (E&O) coverage for both the producer and distributor. In addition to production insurance we can assist you with any of the specialized insurance needs found in the entertainment industry. Our staff of 8 licensed insurance professionals have a combined 125 years of experience in the field of entertainment insurance.

The name Truman Van Dyke has a long association with the entertainment industry. Born November 15th, 1897 in Natchez Missippippi, Truman Van Dyke Sr. was a silent film star starting in 1918. When talking pictures came along his heavy southern accent ended his film career and he became an insurance agent. With his connections in the entertainment industry he naturally had many entertainment related clients. Eventually entertainment became a majority of his business and he began to specialize in the insurance needs of entertainers, producers and directors.

Early in his Career, Truman Sr. married an aspiring costume designer named Irene Brouillet. She went on to an acclaimed career of her own known as ReniƩ, culminating in an Oscar award for costume design in 1964 for "Cleopatra". Truman Van Dyke Sr. and Irene Brouillet had one child, Truman Van Dyke Jr.

Born in 1927, Truman Van Dyke Jr. appeared in several feature films as a young boy, including a part as a paperboy in the classic train station sceen of "Gone With The Wind". Truman Jr. followed in his father's footsteps and became an insurance agent.

In 1953, Truman Jr. becamed licensed and the Truman Van Dyke Company was incorporated in the State of California. Initially the newly incorporated Agency specialized as they had since 1935, in the needs of the entertainment professional. In 1969 we wrote our first insurance policy for a motion picture production. Today Truman Van Dyke Jr. is one of the most knowledgeable and respected entertainment insurance professionals in the industry.

In the early 1990's, Kent Hamilton joined the firm. Today Kent is one of the world's leading experts in the insurance of motion picture productions and the often difficult process of obtaining the required errors and omissions coverage. Late in 2007, the Truman Van Dyke company was pleased to welcome two additional entertainment industry veterans into our fold, Sarah Legan and Bill Hudson. Sarah and Bill are also pioneers in the entertainment insurance field, both having been involved for over 30 years.
